Importance of decorative hardware

Imagine standing in a kitchen or in front of a closet and you want to open a door or drawer, but you can’t because there is no pull on it. It would be considered a huge design flaw.
As 3D artists we have to be mindful of these aspects of designs in our architectural visualizations.

Decorative hardware may seem like a small detail, but it is of huge importance. It not only adds functionality, but also enhances the overall aesthetic of a design.

Modeling good looking decorative hardware is a time consuming process though and is easily overlooked in a time crunch.

That is where “Knobs ‘n’ Pulls” comes in.

What is Knobs ‘n’ Pulls?

It is a collection of decorative hardware modeled meticulously with precision measurements to closely resemble popular real world cabinet knobs and pulls, fully compatible with Blender’s asset browser.

Why use this pack?

As a cabinetmaker by trade who designs all his projects in Blender, I constantly have the need for knob and pull models that represent what I eventually sell to my clients. It proved to consume a big chunk of time on every design.

This is why I have created this asset pack. Instead of having to model a new pull or knob for every project, you can now simply browse the different styles and then click and drag the hardware of your choice into your scene, saving you hours of work.

How is it organized?

• 4 categories from modern over transitional to classic/ traditional styles. Edge- and fingerpulls round up the collection.
• Catalogs for each category within the asset browser for easy navigation and picking
• Names of pulls include overall dimension to make the choice a breeze
• Every model comes with all the materials available in the real world, eliminating the need to append materials separately – simply delete from your scene what you don’t need

Compatibility?

The pack was created with Blender 4.2, so it’s completely compatible with any version after that.

4.1 works without problems too, anything prior may require adjustments in some settings, especially in regards to auto-smooth. See demo video for more on that.

Asset browser use prior to 4.1 may require you to save a copy of the pack with your preferred version of Blender in order to function properly. See demo video for more on that.

Future updates

Since I constantly need new models to stay up to date with what’s popular in the industry, this pack will receive updates in the future.
